Challenge: Build a DNA model out of pasta


and race against your classmates to find the
errors in each other’s models.

Parameters
1. Build your model using the provided pasta/chenille stem key.
2. Your model should have 16 base pairs, 5 of which are incorrect.
3. Switch with a partner and find and fix their incorrect base pairs.
DNA Decoders
Essence: All genetic information for all living things is stored in a
ladder shaped molecule called DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid. The
DNA molecule consists of a sugar component, a phosphate
component, and 4 bases which fit together to form a double helix.

-16 pieces of ziti pasta -Remember what the correct base pairings
-18 pieces of pinwheel pasta are:
-2 pieces of line adenine (green) + thymine (orange)
-assorted chenille stems (green, blue, guanine (blue) + cytosine (purple)
