Mangrove forests only grow at tropical and subtropical latitudes near the equator because they
cannot withstand freezing temperatures.

Major mangrove is a type of mangrove that only lives in mangrove areas, naturally only found in
mangrove ecosystems and not found in terrestrial / terrestrial communities. The major element also
has a major role in the structure of the community and has the ability to form pure stands. While
minor mangroves, which live on the edge of the mangrove ecosystem, are unable to form the main
components of striking vegetation and form pure stands.

No. 4

Climate change is likely to have a substantial impact on mangrove ecosystems, through processes
including sea level rise (SLR), changing ocean currents, increased storminess, increased temperature,
changes in precipitation and increased CO2. These factors are inter‐related and spatially variable on
inter‐regional scales (climate, geomorphology, biodiversity, forest structure, tidal range, climate
change impacts).

No. 5

Sedimentation modifies the geomorphological setup and influences the soil characteristics,
groundwater reach and substrate salinity determining mangrove zonation and species distribution.
Mangrove vegetation favors the sedimentation process by resisting the tidal water flow and trapping
the sediments through the network of their roots.
