Persuasive Reflection

I was working on the persuasive for a long time. It was the one I feel like I put the most

effort and heart in. I originally wrote a very formal essay with MLA formatting, but then as I was

thinking about it, it was too “old” for a 4th grade classroom my website is based off. When I

originally started writing a persuasive, my original idea was to talk about teacher pay. As I was

writing, I felt like it was just not going well. I couldn’t find all the specific information I was

looking for, so I ended up switching my idea to comparing education and income. When I was

researching, I found so much information I had never thought about before. Like how important

pre-school education is and being apart of an out-of-school enrichment program. As I was

writing, I was writing a very formal essay that was very much at college level. I still attached the

link to that essay, but I was thinking about how I could make it more for a 4th grader to be able to

understand. Even though it is a very “adult” topic, I was still thinking that its important for 4th

graders to be able to understand big problems in this world, and I wanted to find a way to explain

that to them. I came up with the idea for making a Piktochart. I took some of the most important

stuff from the essay and put it into a fun image that is easy to read and understand. I am very

happy with the outcome of my persuasive essay and pictograph. As I was writing the persuasive,

I was trying to remember the other side. My point of view was that income directly effects the

education you will be getting. I tried to find multiple sources to prove my point, and I feel I did

well with that. Overall, there were a lot of ups and downs with my persuasive, and I feel that is is

one of my proudest pieces in my entire portfolio so far.
