Classification Essay (Modes Project)

1. Attention Grabbers

There are so many different types of interesting books but my favorite books are a mix of fantasy

and romance. Marissa Meyer’s Cinder is a unique take on the classic fairytale Cinderella. This

book kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters were strong and the plot was unpredictable.

The first book was so remarkable, I had to buy the other four books in the series. I get so

consumed by these books, but they’re the best type of books to read.

2. Boring

Believe it or not the most boring book I’ve ever read was not in school. My sister brought Real

Mermaids Don’t Wear Toe Rings by Hélène Boudreau, and she never go through it. The first few

pages are okay but then it just gets boring. I tried reading this book four times before I made it

past the first chapter. It just wasn’t very interesting. I only read it because I needed a book for my

book report and this one happened to be laying around the house.

3. Despite

These are the books I read despite how angry the characters make me again and again, or how

predictable the plot is. C.C. Hunter’s Reborn tells a story about Della, a strong and independent

vampire who’s stubborn and struggling in her love life. This book is a stand-alone, which can be

a good thing, however, I read the books before this one. So, it’s really annoying when you read a

book everything is explained again and again and again. On top of that the diction is a little
unusual because it’s set in Texas. However, once I got past all of the alien phrases, and constant

explanations, the characters were relatable and funny and the plot was just the right amount of

unpredictable.
