An outstanding influence who stood by my side

Adored by everyone she had ever met,
With her extraordinary sense of humour and hardworking hands
Deeply cherished by all who laid eyes on her.
Passionate about her family as she always ate last.
We held her dearly with long-lasting love

Observing her get more tired as time flew by

With tearful hearts we watched her fade away.
Empty souls not knowing what would be next.
Sewed into our hearts but we could not make her stay.
Accepting no cure was to be found
A golden heart stopped beating safe and profound.

As a glistening light blew out of my life.

Sleepless nights became normal
As the joy in my heart will never be the same.
Don’t tell me that I’ll be okay
This grief will be mine for a length of time.
I will carry this burden for the rest of my life.

Knowing she won’t be there for life’s significant moments.

Watching over me as I put on my cap and gown.
Watching over me as I walk down the aisle.
Singing to me every morning on my birthday disappears.
As her soul is taken a broken family is left
I begin to realize you are not here.

I am stronger than I know.

A path I’ll take with lots to see.
My future shines bright for all to watch.
As time heals she’s reached the place.
With reassurance, my broken heart heals
My life is progressing as I miss you, Grandma.
