They will use the digital tool Kidspiration Maps, a versatile easy-to-use graphic organizer for early elementary. This is a fun and safe way for students to brainstorm ideas on the web.1A.5.1 Students will prewrite (Ideas, Planning, Thinking Maps, Organize, Draw) about the 8 planets in our Solar System and important facts they already know about each planet. They will use the tool Stormboard, an easy-to-use online whiteboard, to make a brainstorming list and draw demonstrative illustrations with the class based on the information that they know. Using the online tool Bubbl.us, students can incorporate their ideas and brainstorming into something that provides structure to their writing, while helping ideas and thoughts flow logically. More so, this tool can be used to keep ideas organized so nothing runs in different directions. Upon completion, students will get into small groups, discuss their topic and share outline with the classmates in that group. When broken down into different age groups, it is clear to see that the indicator stays the same, however the digital tools change and so do the techniques/requirements. Assignments become more difficult and require more time and work as the years go by. Take my example of 2A on brainstorming.
