E​XPRESSION​ M​ODULE

D​ESCRIPTION
As a future educator and previous student, my teaching philosophy
of education is based on what I experienced and what I want the
future generation of students to experience as well. One of the main
things that was lacking in a majority of my classes was fun, and
when it was included I was so excited to learn. Technology can help
foster this sense of joy in the classroom as well, and I plan on using
it in every way I can. When I become an educator I want to educate,
engage and empathize to improve fun and enthusiasm while serving
young children as a classroom elementary school teacher so that the
future generation is excited to come to school and learn about
important topics. I will express these feelings through a PowerPoint
video presented by me.

P​ROJECT​ ​MEDIUM​ (​MULTIMEDIA​)

The medium I chose for this project is a mix of an audio storytelling
and an animated presentation. I will create a presentation and then
record my voice as I am presenting the slides. This will create a
video that is animated as well as including my voice so I can be
sincere about my philosophy, something that only text would not be
able to convey.
P​OTENTIAL​ B​ENEFITS​ O
​ F​ ​MULTIMEDIA
Using this chosen medium will allow me to include animations and
text for the visual audience and also allow me to talk in more detail
about the presentation. The mix of audio and visual allows for a
better understanding. It is one thing to talk about a specific use of
technology, but it’s even better to show a picture of what I am
talking about. Anyone can view my presentation at anytime and
watch it as I wanted it to be presented.

P​OTENTIAL​ C​ HALLENGES​ ​OF​ ​MULTIMEDIA

It will take some time to create the presentation first and then go in
after that is completed and record my voice over it. However, if I
start my project early, I will be able to get it done on time and to the
best of my ability. Other than this challenge, there are not too many
more challenges, other than that I am using an iPad which may limit
what I can do. To get over this obstacle, I will be using Google Drive
Slides which gives me everything available that I would have on a
desktop.

A​RTIST​ ​STATEMENT
While my Educational philosophy is pretty solid at the moment,
I know that some things may change in the next 10 years, and I will
have to change with that as well. As technology inevitably changes, I
will make sure to change my lesson plans including technology too.
It is very important that teachers are continually changing and
editing their plans, as topics get outdated fairly quickly. I have
known several teachers that use the same plans they created many
years ago and I do not believe that is a good way to teach. Some
people do not enjoy change, but in order to grow as a society we
have to accept it with open arms and learn how to adjust to it.

Another part of my teaching philosophy I do not have control

over and will most likely change is that attitude and opinions of
students. History has shown that the mas opinion will change over
time, and I do not necessarily think that is a bad thing, I just need to
know how to adapt with it. No matter what changes though, I will
always empathize with students and make sure everyone of them is
understood. Without an understanding teacher, students will not
enjoy being in the classroom and that is the last thing that I want.
Every student should be treated the same way with respect, and
they will almost always enjoy coming to class to learn.

There are some things included in my philosophy that I cannot

control, but there are some things I do have control over. Through
all of my teaching career it will be my number one priority to engage
students and encourage fun while they explore their creativity and
learn. Without fun and exploration, there is no enjoyment in the
classroom, and those are very important to me.

A​DDITIONAL​ C​OMMENTS​ (​OPTIONAL​)
My educational philosophy was not fully complete at the time of this
project due date since we have not worked on it in TEL 111 very
thoroughly. I used what I have so far and it helped me dive a little
deeper into it than what I had at the beginning of the project.
