Hi Amy,

This week, Southwest Airlines announced their daily service from San Diego to Kahului

and Honolulu. These flights will begin in April of 2020. With Southwest being a new competitor

to the Hawaiian market, these new routes should stir up some excitement for West Coast

travelers and your readers.

With the lack of 737s currently in their fleet due to the grounding of the MAX 8,

Southwest has had to slow down their expansion to Hawaii. As travelers are still concerned about

safety regarding the MAX 8 aircraft, this new information should generate some buzz that

Southwest is confident that by April of next year they will have secured enough aircrafts to add

these new routes to their operations. According to their website, as of now they have the MAX 8

out of service until February 8, 2020. This should give them enough time to successfully

reintroduce these aircrafts to service before beginning Hawaiian routes. I’d like to look more into

their plans for reintroducing these aircrafts and if passengers should be concerned about safety

moving forward.

I’d be happy to sit down and discuss this pitch with you more. Feel free to reach out if you have

any questions.

Thank you,
