Summative Metacommentary

1.) I believe that the biggest difference in my writing is that I can consciously use writing

concepts and form a proper argument intentionally. In the beginning this was difficult but with

practice it came naturally.

2.) I have a solid grasp of rhetoric and rhetorical devices. I am able to spot the use of rhetoric

and rhetorical devices in literature and while listening to people speak. I am also well equip to

use these devices and Toulmin’s Terms with intention and purpose to form an argument.

3.) I chose my research topic (cannabis legalization) because it is something I believe in and

I think that allowed me to enjoy the research process and writing process more.

4.) I started by making a blueprint of how I wanted the essay organized. I made sure I had

multiple different types of evidence to support my claim. I used statistics, testimonials, a

professional interview ect. to make sure every side of the claim was supported and appealed to

ethos, pathos, and logo equally.

5.) I asked the professor to help me and he offered excellent feedback since I didn’t get the

best feedback the first time. I was able to adjust my paper where needed and was happy with the

result.

6.) I was more than pleased with the class. A moderate workload and a lighthearted,

knowledgable teacher made for a class that I looked forward to every Tuesday and Thursday

evening. I received all the extra help that I needed and felt like the professor cared about the

success of his students.

7.) I feel like I am able to form an argument that has a well supported claim. I feel more

comfortable writing in general. I am much better at using tone while keeping my writing more

formal.
