The Cast & Roll® process consists of two stages: Melting & Casting and Tube Rolling. After casting, the outside surface of the hollow-billet is milled to remove scale and oxidation. A key feature of the process is the use of planetary rolling to achieve more than 90% reduction of the billet in a »8y for the production of copper single pass. Such high deformation causes the copper to heat up sufficiently to raise the temperature beyond the recrystalisation point, and thus avoid the need for a preheating step.
