ACUSON S2000™ Automated Breast Volume Scanner (ABVS) from Siemens
Ultrasound. The ACUSON S2000 ABVS system with 3D Total Breast Ultrasound
combines the power of 2D hand-held imaging and 3D automated whole breast
ultrasound with advanced technologies and intelligent workflow solutions.

According to the American College of Radiology, approximately 500 out of 1,000

asymptomatic patients will have dense breasts. Dense breast tissue makes it more
challenging for physicians to identify cancer on mammograms and dense breast tissue
carries an increased risk of getting breast cancer. Studies have shown that ultrasound
can help find breast cancers that can’t be seen on a mammogram. (Source: American

The ACUSON ABVS system is a welcome addition to our women’s health offering and is
ideal for those patients with dense breasts (BIRADS C and D) without the ionizing
radiation risks associated with mammography. With this comprehensive breast imaging
system we can now perform operator-independent reproducible 3D imaging. This
provides views of the anatomical coronal plane which is not obtainable using
conventional ultrasound systems. The coronal plane enhances breast lesion evaluation
through easy identification of architectural distortion, ductal distention, and global
symmetry.

With Siemens’ advanced technologies, including Shear wave elastography, we can non-
invasively quantify the tissue stiffness within a lesion to increase our diagnostic
confidence and help our physicians reduce unnecessary breast biopsies.
