Chapter 6

The Woods

Miabelle POV

I woke up at the hospital room. I sat upright. I held my head up on my

head and asked.

"What the hell happened?"

I had hazy memories on the event that transpired. It's as if I was in

a dream.. My body. It feels strange, it's as if something happened to
my body when I was in a slumber. Two minutes later, I began to
remember all the things that happened.

The corpses of my teammates and of the research captain that laid on

my feet. There were lots of blood everywhere. Fonzy… Yes, he was there
next to me.. Then I remembered what the Officer in Charge did to me..
He tried to take advantage of me while I was unconscious, however, I
was unable to know if he actually raped me.

As I was losing to my thoughts, I was interrupted by a voice.

"So you have regained consciousness?"

I straightened my back and turned to the person addressing me. It was

a man in a black suit.

"Who are you?"

"I'm sorry for barging in, but, unfortunately, we can't afford to

delay any longer."

He handed me a small card, I took it and read its contents.

"Hunter Division Evolved Human Federation."

The Evolved Human Federation is the group responsible for the

registration of humans who have evolved. Why are they doing here?

"Sorry to burst your bubble, Ms. Crandall. Amongst the people that
joined with you on that operation.. You were the only person that made
it out alive."
He handed out a brown envelope, I received it and opened it to see
photos of the aftermath of the battle.

"The OIC was able to get out of the cave, however due to several
wounds on his body, especially the huge slice wound that he had
gained. He was unable to make it."

I was shocked to see the state of the corpse of the OIC. The slash on
his stomach must have meant to bisect him into two parts, however, It
failed maybe because the commander used the gauntlet in retaliation.
Who could have inflicted that wound?

"The Dead bodies of the other research team members were recovered.
Although, we could not retrieve the dead body of Mr. Salazar, because
the cave suddenly collapsed. Making it impossible to retrieve his
body."

After he explained, tears began to roll down my cheeks. Seeing my

current state, the person decided to leave, but before that, he gave
out an order.

"Before you will return to active duty, I want you to drop by at the
Satellite office of the Evolved Human Federation at the Research
Commission HQ."

After he left, I began to grieve over my best friend… He was a good

man, I will never forget his sacrifice.
