CASE STUDY IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE

By Ariane Marie C. Segarra and Aisha Donna Louise L. Bugtas

Solution:
-Recycling is very important as waste has a huge negative impact on the natural
environment. Harmful chemicals and greenhouse gasses are released from rubbish in
landfill sites. Recycling helps to reduce the pollution caused by waste. Recycling reduces
the need for raw materials so that the rainforests can be preserved.

-Making a compose pit can be one of the solutions, Compost is decomposed organic
material, such as leaves, grass clippings, and kitchen waste. It provides many essential
nutrients for plant growth and therefore is often used as fertilizer. Compost also
improves soil structure so that soil can easily hold the correct amount of moisture,
nutrients and air.

-Reducing, reusing and recycling your waste is important for the environment, and it can
also be profitable. It decreases the amount of waste for disposal, saves space in landfills,
and conserves natural resources. When waste is disposed of properly, it helps to
prevent additional pollution which can improve public health. Polluted air increases the
risk of respiratory illness. Waste that is properly disposed of has a lesser chance of
getting into the water supply and causing illness.
