JOB ANALYSIS:

JOB SPECIFICATION

 Complex problem-solving skills and a methodical mind


 Time management and an ability to priorities and plan work
effectively.

Concentration. Electrical and electronics engineers design and develop


complex electrical systems and electronic components and products. They
must be able to keep track of multiple design elements and technical
characteristics when performing these tasks.

Initiative. Electrical and electronics engineers must be able to apply their


academic knowledge to new tasks in every project they undertake. In
addition, they must engage in continuing education to keep up with changes
in technology.

Interpersonal skills. Electrical and electronics engineers must be able to


work with others during the manufacturing process to ensure that their plans
are implemented correctly. This collaboration includes monitoring technicians
and devising remedies to problems as they arise.

Math skills. Electrical and electronics engineers must be able to use the
principles of calculus and other advanced topics in math in order to analyze,
design, and troubleshoot equipment.

Speaking skills. Electrical and electronics engineers work closely with other
engineers and technicians. They must be able to explain their designs and
reasoning clearly and to relay instructions during product development and
production. They may also need to explain complex issues to customers who
have little or no technical expertise.
JOB DESCRIPTION

 Design electronic components, software, products, or systems for


commercial, industrial, medical, military, or scientific applications
 Analyze customer needs and determine electrical system requirements,
capacity, and cost to develop a system plan
 Develop maintenance and testing procedures for electronic components
and equipment
 Evaluate systems and recommend design modifications or equipment
repair
 Inspect electronic equipment, instruments, and systems to make sure
they meet safety standards and applicable regulations
 Plan and develop applications and modifications for electronic properties
used in parts and systems to improve technical performance
RECRUITMENT

Electronic Engineer

A progressive company dealing in Electronics, Network Security &


Telecommunication Equipment is looking for an Electronic Engineer for its
Karachi office.

QUALIFICATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

1. Candidate should be B.E. in Electronics / Electrical / Telecommunication.


2. Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in PLC Programming will be preferred /

SHORTLISTING CV

After receiving a lot of CVs in applicant pool the shortlisting was done upon the
given description in the advertisement, which are age, experience and
education.

25 CVs are shortlisted. All selected candidates are called for interviews
through emails and calls.

An Interviews will be conduct in three consecutive days.


Questions to be asked in an Interview

Questions that an interviewer will ask an electrical / electronic engineer include


general questions that deal with your education, background, interests and
motivations, behavioral questions that involve specific situations and how you
deal with them, and technical questions that measure your knowledge of
theories and concepts.

Following are some sample questions for candidate (it is not compulsory to ask
each question, this totally depend on potential of candidate or till interviewer
has built trust for hiring that person).

3. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
4. What are your short term and long term goals?
5. What motivates you to succeed?
6. What do you think separates you from other candidates?
7. What electrical engineering computer software are you comfortable with?
8. Where did you get your electrical engineering degree and which classes did
you excel in?
9. What qualities do you have that would be helpful on this job?
10. What is your specialty within electrical engineering?

Behavioural Questions

1. Describe a challenge that you ran into at work and how you solved it.
2. Tell me about a time when you made a mistake. How did you recover?
3. Describe your most successful teamwork experience. What made it so
successful?
4. Describe a time when you had to meet a strict deadline. How did you manage
to get your work done on time?
5. What was the toughest decision that you’ve had to make within this last year?
6. Explain some of the projects that you have helped design. How did your
involvement affect the outcome?
7. Tell me about a time you had to raise an uncomfortable issue with your boss.

Technical Questions

1. Can you explain the difference between direct and alternating current?
2. Explain Norton’s Theorem in a single sentence.
3. What are some of the most common causes of transformer humming?
4. What is the difference between a single pole and a double pole circuit breaker?
5. A capacitor has a label on it saying, “100 WVDC”. What does this label mean
and what is the consequence of exceeding this rating?
6. What is the difference between generator and alternator?
7. What is your understanding of Australian engineering standard 61508?
8. What is analog-to-digital conversion of signals?
9. What are the various types of numbers for network identity?
10. A client is using Chlorine gas as a sanitizer. However, the facility is only
300m from a public area and poses a significant risk. What decision making
process would you take the client through to remove the risk?

Final Selection will be done by CEO of a company on the bases of interview


and demonstration taken of candidates.

Two potential candidates are hired in the company as electronic


engineers.

PERFOMANCE APPRAISAL (AFTER PROBATION PERIOD)

Probation is usually defined in a company's employee handbook, which is


given to workers when they first begin a job. The probationary period also
allows an employer to terminate an employee who is not doing well at their job
or is otherwise deemed not suitable for a particular position or any position.

IN This Case both of the employees are really talented and have worked
amazingly which is appreciable.

The company has decided to finish their 6 months’ probation period and
consider them as regular or permanent employees.
