The yellow tulip

Mr. Wilson was in his office at home, scanning some documents and
firing a smoke from his pipe. His almost white beard gave him a shade of
experience. He was dressed in a black suit and wore a gold watch on his
hand. Suddenly, the noise from the upstairs began to disturb him. Mr.
Wilson could hear the voices of James and Adela. He supposed that it was
another jealousy scene of his son with Adela. Every second the scream
became louder and louder, and after a strange sound there came silence.
Mr. Wilson rushed in the main hall of the house to see what happened.
What he saw petrified him. On the completely white carpet, brought a few
years ago from Paris, was lying the lifeless body of Adela. Her eyes were
still open, and her gaze was terrifying him. Adela seems as a crushed flower.
The carpet’s white color was replaced by the red one.
Mr. Wilson, being an important person in the village, was aware what
happened and he called the local police to come at the crime scene. He
wanted to protect his only son, but he wanted to show that he respects the
law. He called Mr. Gray, a very old family friend, to help him with his son
and all this situation. Mr. Gray suggested that James must go to bughouse,
in order to avoid the prison.
A few days later, Adela was buried. Mr. Wilson looking at her grave,
put on it some yellow tulips- her favorite flowers, and remembered the day
when he met her. It was a celebration in the suburb of the village. The
people were eating, drinking and dancing a lot. Adela was in the center of
the biggest circle for dances. She wore a beautiful yellow dress which could
be noticed easily. She was looking very beautiful, cute, fine such as yellow
tulip. Her dance was so graceful that she caught the sights of all men in that
evening. But it seemed that she likes it. When James saw her, his heart
started biting faster. He started asking about this girl yet not daring to go
and talk to her. He found out that she comes from a very poor family.
There passed some time after the celebration, but James’s thoughts
were only about the girl in the yellow dress. One evening he told his father
that he wants this girl to become his wife. Mr. Wilson, being a wealthy and
powerful man, solved this task very fast, he was ready to do anything for his
beloved son.
Very soon they married. But since she was from a poor family she
didn’t have all those good manners to correspond to her husband’s level of
society. So, she was taught by different teachers all the features of the high
society. She was obliged to learn a foreign language and to play the piano.
Both Mr. Wilson and James Wilson saw that Adela wasn’t very happy about
her new life, and she even missed the times when she could be pleasant
without all the richness.
Mr. Wilson seat in his office drinking a cup of coffee. All his thoughts
were about the cruel action of James. He felt guilty in a way because he did
everything that his son was asking. At the same time, he felt pain, because
Adela became for him as a daughter.
Suddenly the phone rang. It was Mr. Gray. He was calling to say that
Dr. Brown wanted to talk to him. It was something about his son.
Dan Brown knew the Wilson family before that tragic accident
happened. He knew Adela as well because she was his first love. He wanted
to marry her as soon as he finishes his studies. And when the time came he
found out that she was already married. It broke his heart.
Next morning, he went to the bughouse to meet Dr. Brown. When he
entered the doctor’s office, he saw a young man, with black hair and eyes,
the expression on his face gave him a sign of maturity and wisdom. He had
a polite tone and suggested Mr. Wilson take a seat. His voice was serious
and calm.
“I know that you are the best doctor here, because Mr. Gray
recommended you, and I’m not sure if you know the true reason why my
son is here.” said Mr. Wilson.
“Mr. Wilson, I know his problem. James Wilson has a maniacal
psychological disorder. He needs a very strict control, and he will stay here
for a pretty long time.” said Dr. Brown.
