Skillet

Skillet is one of my favorite bands. (I take after my dad in this regard.) I think many of

their songs are cool and I can even relate a couple to my favorite TV show, Star Wars Rebels.

Skillet would be classified as a Christian hard rock band and their style could be

described as Christian rock, Christian metal, alternative rock, hard rock, nu metal, and

symphonic metal.

One interesting fact about this band is that two of its members are married and have

kids. John and Korey Cooper are the lead singer, and rhythm guitar, keyboards, and backing

vocals respectively.

Another interesting fact is the origin of the band’s name. When its original founders, John

Cooper and Ken Steorts first joined up, they decided to call themselves Skillet because both of

their musical backgrounds were so different from each other that it seemed to them that they

were throwing everything into a skillet to see what they could make together.

The third interesting fact I found was that while the band has changed since it was

founded in 1996, John Cooper has always been the lead singer. The original trio was John

Cooper (lead vocals), Ken Steorts (lead guitar), and Trey McClurkin (drums), then a few other

people cycled through. The current band consists of John Cooper (lead vocals), Korey Cooper

(keyboard, vocals, rhythm guitar, synthesizer), Jen Ledger (drums, backing vocals), and Seth

Morrison ( lead guitar).
