It gives me a great pleasure to be with you all here today on our annual sports
event. On this auspicious occasion, I would like to shower praise and congratulate
the entire staff of Fairways alongside with children to have worked rigorously on
the field. The efforts of both our students and teachers are so evident and has
raised the overall desired standard of our performances and stamina of our
students.
I am sure we all agree to the fact that sports make us healthy and strong and also
teach us to embrace both victory as well as defeat gracefully. Such lessons, I
sternly believe, should be continuously taught to our students as they will at a
later stage lead to the building blocks of achievement in life.
Bravo to our parents for supporting our students since we started training up to
this final day may the almighty award you abundantly.
Jesse Owens in the 1936 summer Olympics in Berlin, said “friendships born on the
field of athletics strife are the real gold of competition. Awards become corroded,
but friends gather no dust”
Certainly each of you our dear students will pit your skills and talents against your
opponents from other colours. But I encourage you to also make the most of this
wonderful opportunity to showcase best athletic talent and spirit of comradeship
Indeed this sports day will play a significant role in raising our schools sporting
profile. I would like to wish all the best to our participants and we all look forward
to enjoying your performances.
I once again thank our chief guest and all the rest for honoring our invitation to
our sports event and I wish you journey mercies back home after the event
