Activity. As a class we would first go over the student’s prior knowledge of atoms.

We would then discuss key terms such as “Electrons, Protons, Neutrons,

Electron cloud, atomic mass, and atomic number.” I would ask the students

to tell me what they know of these terms. We would then watch and

interact with the activity posted below. This activity is from PBS and is

interactive, so the students aren’t just watching a video but clicking and

responding to questions. I would ask for students to answer the questions

posed throughout the video. After we finished watching I would ask if the

students had any questions about the lesson and then split them into groups

of two and have them select an element and create a map of the element,

they have chosen giving its number of electrons, neutrons, and protons. I

would also ask the students to define the key terms in their map of their

selected element
