T1-Unit 2-L1-Week 10 Anansi Learns a Lesson
Day 5 (100 min) Comprehension Strategy & Skill (50 min) Do YTP p 52-55+ MCQ Worksheet + Feedback The teacher tells students that now it’s their turn to apply what she taught them previously in “Anansi Learns a Lesson”. The teacher reminds her students that readers need to make predictions based on clues they read in the story. Them they need to check if their prediction was right. If not, they should revise their prediction. As for the Theme, the teacher reminds to student’s that author’s often have a message, or lesson, for the readers. This is the theme of the story. Students need to find clues that will lead them to the theme of the story. Also, the teacher should remind students that they can often find the meaning of an unfamiliar word by finding its antonym through context clues.

When a syllable ends in a consonant; it is called a closed syllable. Most closed syllables have a short vowel sound, such as hid/den, bas/ket, and mag/net. In words with a (VCCV) spelling pattern, the word is usually divided between the two consonant spellings, such as win/ter and din/ner. Apply Model and Guided Practice. Combining Sentences T234 Day (1) & (2) Introduce Combining Sentences: Subject Nouns Present the following Combine sentences by joining two nouns in the subject. Use and to join the nouns. Leave out words that repeat and make subjects and verbs agree. Point out that the verb changes to paddle when the subject is plural. A combined sentence has a complete subject and predicate. Do IPB p 121 Day (2) Review Combining sentences: Subject Nouns Review how to combine subject nouns from multiple sentences to make one complete sentence. Have students define subject nouns and explain their function in a sentence. Introducing Combining Sentences: Predicate Nouns Sentences can be combined by joining two predicate nouns.
