Re: Your article of March 7, 2013,
Dear Mr. Phelan and Ms. Farkas:
Reference is made to the article that you co-wrote, while Mr, Phelan was at Wonkette, on
March 7, 2013, captioned: Wonket Sexclusive: Totally Blameless Crime-Stopper James O'Keefe
To Pay $100,000 To ACORN Criminal, There are libelous statements included, deliberately
besmirching the character of James O'Keefe and Project Veritas, to wit:
Vera sued both parties over this and the wild misrepresentation of his activities
in the edited version of the undercover video, posted online.
O’Keefe’s willingness to pay this exorbitant sum és, by itself, a tacit admission
of guilt.
emphasis added)
You have told your readers that they should believe these to be true, as a factual matter.
What is fact, as a matter of law, is what you wrote, and Wonkette published, is actionable
libel. Your article inappropriately, and deliberately, attacked and mischaracterized Mr.
O'Keefe and Project Veritas, revealing your lack of veracity for truthfulness, your highly
questionable credibility, and requires an immediate retraction.
‘The facts, should you be interested in real journalism, are these:
Mr, Vera was not “wildly misrepresented.” Even he did not allege
misrepresentation, but rather, an invasion of privacy.
What was published by Project Veritas was true and led to the democratically
controlled House and Senate, during then President Obama’s term, to defund
ACORN.
Messrs. O'Keefe and Vera settled the case, There was no admission of liability.
The settlement agreement that each signed, which you admittedly had in your

won projectveritas.com info@projectuertas.compossession at the time, specifically stated as such. Notwithstanding, you wrote
that it was an admission of guilt. That is an outright lie.
Project Veritas demands that you issue an immediate retraction to correct each of the
foregoing within the online version of the article. If the article appeared in a printed
format, the appropriate correction needs to be published in the next printed version of
your periodical.
Be advised that efforts to besmirch the character of James O'Keefe and Project Veritas
with such cavalier and reckless “journalism” will not be tolerated. Project Veritas
expressly reserves all rights that it has, or may have, whether based in law and/or equity,
to seek redress before the appropriate regulatory authority and/or a court of competent
jurisdiction.
Very truly yours,
