Learning Goals & Outcomes

Throughout the days in the project the questions all drive to the end outcome as in how

we can use this as a resource or as a start of providing a resource for students to have so they can

practice their content. Building the games utilizes the students’ knowledge and mastery of the

content when it comes to making sure and finalizing the product to see if everything is correct, to

check for any mistakes and make sure they have an answer key as well so that it can be used to

check the games legitimacy. This as well utilizes collaboration with one another and students

will learn to work with each other in the benefit of someone else, that being the student(s) they

interview or are aiming their game towards. Through the creation process the students will also

have opportunities to innovate off of other games they have heard of to where they can put a

math spin onto another idea of bounce off of each other’s ideas when they brainstorm. Through

the learning activities students will explore creative way in which they can express the given

content and explore how people come about to creating something or innovating so they can

think as to how they can utilize this learning when needed for other projects. At the end when

they present their games the plan is to reserve a table or even present the game as some of the

gatherings the school has where the clubs and teachers all have an “Open House” type of get

together where the students can lead the presentations and demonstrate them to parents in order

to gain more interest and have parents see how students are trying to create games as a small

resource to spark an interest in future goals of building a fully fledged resource at the school

itself. Students will host “game nights” for students to reach more and more participants

throughout the community and even possibly hold game nights for the community to involve

parents and volunteer help/work. This can also spark community involvement or students may
want to further engage in community projects as they can see how much of a difference one can

make with their efforts, whether it’d be math related or not. Students will learn how to present

their projects, as well as how to gather the community together to reach more parents/students

and learn how to pitch ideas in a presentation.

Sustaining the Project & Innovation

Students will continue to create their own versions of games as the project is built upon

and more presentations spark the interest of parents as we can pitch this as a start of a resource,

as previously mentioned. The ultimate goal would be to eventually create a network of students

who would tutor and help students who are struggling in mathematics to overall leading to

networks/clubs that will cover all subjects in school.

After Proposal Period

Once more interest is given to this project it will develop into creating more official

resources and planning how students can help others by being a sort of “mentor” to students who

are new to the school, or currently struggling at the school. We will innovate the project enough

to where we can start a club as to where specific teacher can oversee and provide times before,

during, or even after school as they see what appeals to parents and students so that the parents

can see how we are trying to create a resource and have it be accessible to all no matter the status

or level of understanding. Student involvement will expand to where they will take leadership

roles in organizing the details of the club, the hours, etc. and can even inspire more to give back

to their community or even spark in interest in education.
