Barriers to Career Performance for Female Professionals in the Civil

ABSTRACT

According to the 2018 Gender Statistics on Labor and Employment, Women in the Construction
Industry makes up 1.78% of the total population of the particular industry. The Construction
Industry being predominantly male often overlooks the requirements of Women in the
Construction Site which leaves them exposed to factors that can affect their Professional
Performance in their workplace. From the publication of the NYCOSH, women in construction
experiences issues in two areas: Workplace Culture, and Health & Safety. The workplace culture
involves factors such as: Isolation, and Sexual Harassment, and Health & Safety involves:
Ergonomics, Reproductive Hazards, and Sanitary Facilities.
