Good evening and thank you for joining us for our lecture series featuring former United States

Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice. Giant Leaps was initiated this year to celebrate Purdue’s

150-year anniversary. The purpose of this campaign is to not only highlight past, present, and

future individuals who have made an impact on Purdue, but to also challenge global leaders,

such as Condoleezza, to continue solving worldwide problems.

Since her time served as the 66th Secretary of State from 2005 to 2009, Condoleezza is now the

Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution. She

also serves as the Denning Professor in Global Business and the Economy at the Stanford

Graduate School of Business and a professor of Political Science at Stanford University.

Condoleezza has written several books, including ‘No Higher Honour’ and ‘Extraordinary,

Ordinary People’ and is a bestselling author. She currently holds the title of Vice Chair of the

Board of Governors of the Boys and Girls Club of America and is a recipient of 15 honorary

doctorates. To say Condoleezza’s experiences and achievements are impressive would be a

considerable understatement.

I am honored to sit down with Condoleezza tonight to discuss these past and current roles, as

well as understand her goals and plans as we move closer to 2020. Without further ado, please

join me in welcoming businesswoman and politician, Condoleezza Rice!
