Barry Bonds – Baseball’s Home-Run King

Barry Bonds’ life and baseball career was what I chose for my History Fair topic because he
inspired me to play baseball and to hit better. I would love to play Major League Baseball
someday just like him. He is my idol because he made everything look easy and I wanted to be
like him and make everything look easy too. He also played for one of my favorite teams, the
San Francisco Giants. I learned a lesson from his life that I should be careful about making bad
decisions about taking steroids or performance-enhancing drugs.

I conducted my research on Barry Bonds using many sources such as Gale in Context, Baseball
Reference, YouTube, Baseball Digest, a tweet on Twitter from Barry Bonds, and his own
barrybonds.com website. The full list of all my sources is included in my annotated
bibliography.

I chose to do a website on Barry Bonds so that I could share the information to the world, and
that others could be inspired too. Websites make it easy to search for information, and to view
pictures and videos. Websites are entertaining and interactive, but they are also good for
learning. They give good information about their subjects. People, like me, are glued to their
devices so I thought a website would reach a lot of people.

Barry Bonds is connected to Breaking Barriers in History because of his success in baseball. He
broke Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron’s home-run record and still holds that record today with 762
home-runs. To this day he is still known as the best slugger in Major League Baseball history.
Even though he is still the leading home-run hitter in baseball history, he is not a member of the
Major League Baseball Hall of Fame because of his history with performance-enhancing drugs.

After retiring from playing baseball, Barry Bonds is now a hitting coach for the Miami Marlins.
He continues to share his love and knowledge of baseball with younger players and will be an
inspiration to others for years to come.
