Sympathy for the devil

 Proposal

Concept: The concept for this stage of the project is to create a music video that targets the
audience of people between ages 25 and 40 otherwise known as millennials. The way I will target
this group of people will between by creating the music video to a timeless classic by the rolling
stones called “sympathy for the devil”. I think that this song matches the target audience and in my
research also discovered this in my research. I will make sure that the actual music video I will is also
appealing to this target audience and that it is interesting for them. For this half of the project I want
to prove I am capable of making an actual good piece of work. The music video follows a well-
dressed man in a suit driving around different places and having different interactions with people
that he meets and always scamming them out of something

Why I am producing this production: I am producing this production in order to enter it into the, Be
Creative film festival Henley college are holding. Alongside this I will also be using this unit and
production to practise my skills and develop them for my final major project which is the next unit
we will be doing. Being asked to create the production with this target audience in mind will be a
challenge but it also allows me to try create something I haven’t had to in the past since I have
always in the past selected my age group as the target audience.

My target audience:

My target audience is people aged between 25 and 40 and are often referred to as millennials. This
includes both males and females between this age group meaning that this a broad spectrum of
people. Because the target audience is so comprehensive I do not have to focus on specific traits in
order to carter for the target audience but more on things people from this era will recognise for
example books and sports shoes in the house because from my research I saw that people from this
age often do sports and are mostly avid readers. This is one example of ways in which I can
implement things the target audience will like into the production in order to help target them

What they want to see:

After thoroughly researching this age group I can see that they want to see things that will be
relatable to them and ask for them to see themselves doing. I can also see that as with many music
videos aimed at this age group a common theme of creating nostalgia is present throughout

This is the location that the majority of the music video will be shot at since it is easy for me and the
actor to get too and we have both been going there for a long time.

The location is outside so there is no power and there are no street lights so this will have to be shot
during the day however this is a well-lit

skatepark is in an open space so there is plenty of natural light which will make sure the production
is well lit, the greys of the skatepark also will match the aesthetic of the film and help give the
colours a professional look. The sound is irrelevant since I will not be using it I the final production
and will just be using the audio from the music. The nearest train station is Earley which is just a ten
minute walk away but I will be driving to the location. The hazards could be other skatepark users
who may get in the way of the actor when they are riding and the way I will avoid this is by going in
the morning during the week when the skate park is mostly empty.

Although the location of my house is not the most ideal place to film my music video since it does
not really match the target audience so much due to the fact that it is relatively new and not a house
that 25 to 40 year olds would often be living in, I will work around this by not showing the whole
house in shot and only using parts of inside meaning that the house will appear to match the target
audience better. The House is well lit throughout all of the rooms that I will be filming in however
the light is rather yellow which does not look very good on camera but since I do not have access to
my own lighting set up I will have to edit this in post-production. I will not be using the audio from
any of my clips in the music video meaning that sound at the location is irrelevant. Since the location
is inside my house I can use any of the power outlets there to charge my camera or any equipment
that I need to film, this means power will not be a problem. There are few potential hazards that will
get in the way of filming other than my family getting in shots which is easily avoided by them
moving out of the rooms that I need to film which they have all agreed to do.

Camera pans behind James following I stuck around St. Petersburg

run down the stairs the next morning to
collect the bike shot of bike box outside
the drive from in the door
James starts to build up the bike and
begins riding it outside his garden
although he is not good he has a great
time and is smiling
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the Czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank, held a general's rank
When the Blitzkrieg raged and the
bodies stank

James walks back into the house and
goes upstairs and another shot of him in
the office in the same style shows him
completing a maths test
Fades to black
James mother walks into the room as he
walks out and sees his maths test and
there is a close up of her giving it a c-
James arrives at the skatepark and the
angle is from above to show he is
intimidated
A short montage shot of James riding
and doing maths tests in between each
time improving his biking abilities and his
scores on the maths test-
In this last shot the montage finally
shows James landing a very hard trick
and then getting an a** on his test
The camera then pans to him walking
up the classroom to hand the test to his
teacher who’s desk is labelled mr
Davielle who then smiles and winks at
the camera
