➢ Public Speaking :
○ Be prepared with the content of your speech and rehearse it over and over again,
in front of a mirror, family members, friends, or tape record it and watch it back.
Having a clear and thorough understanding of the material will make presenting
flow better and make you come across as more confident to your audience.
○ You need to act the part, everyone is listening to your speech, so you have the
influence to make them feel different emotions, get various types of information
across to them, and set the tone for the room. Always appear relaxed to your
audience even if you’re feeling nervous, this will make your audience feel more
comfortable.
○ Project your voice to the farthest person in the room to ensure that your voice is
loud enough so that everyone can hear you clearly. Speak slowly, enunciate
clearly and properly, and change your tone when needed do not become
monotonous because it will put your audience right to sleep. Using a lower tone
of voice may be beneficial to making you feel at ease and it carries well.
○ Do not underestimate body language, it is crucial and it will be the first thing that
your audience picks up on. Be open and walking around or standing with the
appropriate hand gestures and facial expressions. Always keep your posture
poised and never hunch over a piece of paper while sitting down, this will
captivate no audience.
○ Do some breathing exercises before you speak and remember to take deep
breaths, this will also help with the pace of your speech to ensure that you’re not
○ Make sure to articulate and pronounce all of your words clearly, slowly, and
correctly this will make your speech flow better and be easy to follow.
