Bloomsburg University and President Bashar Hanna have named a new provost after conducting a

nationwide search. Dr. Diana Rogers-Adkinson is the newest member to join the administrative team at
BU. Dr. Rogers-Adkinson will overseeing many departments and organizations on BU’s campus and has
the potential to make substantial change in her new position.

Dr. Rogers-Adkinson's official title at BU is provost and senior vice president of Academic Affairs. Just
before taking the job at BU, she was the dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Studies at
Southeast Missouri State University. In this position she was tasked with overseeing seven of the
university’s departments, along with fourteen other supplementary programs. At BU, through Academic
Affairs she will oversee all the undergraduate colleges, as well as some campus services and success
programs. President Hanna commented, “Her focus on academic excellence, student success, and
retention, along with faculty growth and development aligns perfectly with our strategic direction.”

She will be filling this position in the place of the current interim provost and senior vice president of
Academic Affairs, Jim Krause. Dr. Rogers-Adkinson plans to use her experiences working for universities
in Missouri, Wisconsin, and Kansas to enact new initiatives on campus. In the past, her main focuses
have been inclusivity and diversity, student retention, and effective budgeting for campus auxiliaries.
When commenting on her new position she said, “Every interaction from students, faculty, staff, and
administration shared a spirit of excellence and focus on providing students with the best higher
education experience possible.”

Details about upcoming plans for the Academic Affairs office and the new provost have not been
officially announced, but a plan has been constructed. BU students will most likely see changes enacted
by administration during the 2019 fall semester.
