PAST TENSES
I. Thì quá khứ đơn

1. Diễn tả 1 hành động đã chấm dứt trong quá khứ.

VD. He got up late yesterday morning.
2. Diễn tả 1 thói quen trong quá khứ.
VD. He visited his grandparents every Sunday when he was a child.
3. Kể chuyện, diễn tả một chuỗi các sự kiện xảy ra liên tiếp trong quá khứ.
2. Cách dùng VD. She turned on her computer, read the message on Facebook and
answered it.
4. Diễn đạt một hành động xen vào một hành động đang diễn ra trong quá
khứ
VD. I walked in when they were having lunch.
5. Câu điều kiện loại II
VD. If I were a cat, I would lie down by the fireplace and sleep all day.

Trong câu có các trạng từ chỉ thời gian trong quá khứ:
– yesterday (hôm qua)
– last night/ last week/ last month/ last year: tối qua/ tuần trước/ tháng

câu có sử dụng từ “While” hoặc “When”.
2. Cách dùng
VD. While he was having a bath, she arrived.
3. Diễn tả hai hay nhiều hành động xảy ra đồng thời tại một thời điểm
trong quá khứ. Trong câu có sử dụng từ “While” hoặc “When”.
VD. While my mother was cooking, my father was watching TV, and my
