Nobody understands

The bird hiding under a holly

When the winter comes slowly
and everybody’s jolly
Nobody understands the
quiet lark that doesn’t sing
The days of cold winter
Before the first spring.

Nobody understands,
But you’re trying and trying,
Your heart may be living
But inside you’re dying.
Nobody understands,
but that is alright,
Thus it hurts less
when they leave out of sight.

You’ll be a stranger,
In the world of strangers,
You’ll be a free bird
In the world of cages,
A whale that can walk,
On the beach where others strand
It’s folly to think
That people understand.
