Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language

Assignment: Critically Analyse How You Assess

The aim of this assignment is to verify the coherence between the theory we have been discussing and your
teaching practice. Through this activity you will be able to identify strengths and weaknesses in your own teaching
practice.
Although assessment is a multi-dimensional concept, our focus is on testing of language abilities. Therefore,
choose a language test /quiz that you have used with your students. Select one task/question/section from this test
and analyse it (see help below). Post your discussion in the forum (unit 3 in Moodle) and read your classmates’
analyses and make relevant comments.
Deadline: your analysis by 11th November; comments for your classmates by 14th November

Your post in the forum should contain two sections: 1) a description of the task/question/section in the test/quiz;
and 2) your analysis based on our discussion of theory.
