A Message for Mark

By Zachary Burgess

The “Dumbest Generation” that’s what I am

You accuse me of idiocracy
But the future lies in my hands
You prey on the weak but that’s true hypocrisy

Your time has set us up for failure

Blame the screens and lights
But I see you with your railleur demeanor
Blame the teachers oh what horrendous sights

Not their fault your generation has set such a high hope
We hold the knowledge for success in our time
You scold us because you know you can’t cope
Your refusal to accept the new age is practically a crime

You say we can’t read and write as well as the past

But Digital jobs pay well over eighty grand
Comparing my age to a group of slaves, quite aghast
Now that is out of hand

We do not disregard all past literature

But the way it becomes forced down our throat
Makes us despise the words, words should be verdure
Blossoming, luscious, but instead it is just a garrote

Criticizing my generation, go and have a field day

All I hear from you is flimflam
But what can I say
The “Dumbest Generation” that’s what I am
