PROPOSED NETWORK OVERHAUL FOR LONGHORN PUBLISHERS PLC

Introduction:
Following up transitions from the previous office building in Mikocheni towards a new office
premises at GTB Tower in Mwenge ,Dar Es Salaam, there are also changes in network
infrastructures that needs to be reworked and reconfigured for neat and efficient operations.
Network equipments that were previously installed have been moved as well including switches,
patch panels, data cabinets and media converters thus we will not procure other active
components instead those available materials will be utilized
Office premises have separate partitions that requires network access , to achieve distributions of
network resources to all points we must deploy a new network infrastructure
Network Infrastructure
This includes mounting of cable pathways along sides alluminium profiles and walls to allow
proper passage of network cables.
As per the site survey on 14th of November,2019 we found requirements for deployments of
network infrastructure are as here below:-
 PVC trunks
 Fishers & skrew as well as low bolts for remounting of data cabinet
 Dual Faceplates complete with modules
 Surface mounting Boxes
 Drop Cables
 PVC-25 pairs for Telephone connections to Panasonic PBX available
 Additional cat 6 cables for signal transmission between users and servers
Network topology to be used is Star topology, all end user points will be connected to the
centralised switch which is then connected to the internet cloud provided by ISP-(RAHA for our
case)
We are confident to make sure that all functionalities that was existing before moving from the
old office building will be maintained
