I wish to submit a new manuscript entitled “Effects of coarse aggregate shape on the
mechanical properties of hot mix asphalt” for consideration by Energy Reports
journal.

I confirm that this work is original and has not been published elsewhere nor is it's
currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.

In this paper,I report on a comparison research between two hot mix asphalt type
made of two coarse aggregate types “Rounded Gravel (GR) and Crushed Gravel (GC)”.
The paper should be of interest to readers in the areas of road and civil engineering
materials.

In Algeria Rounded gravel is rarely used in the construction project, although it is

found widely across the country, while the crushed gravel, which is extracted with
difficulty is the most used material in this field. This research evaluates tow hot mix
asphalt type made of Rounded and Crushed gravel by an experimental research
carried out in LTPS Laboratory. The main object of this study is to find out the
answer of the following question: “between two HMA types confectioned with coarse
aggregates having the same chemical and mineralogical characteristics and
different shape, rounded aggregate (GR) and crushed aggregate (GC). Which of these
mixtures is the most efficient?”
