Indian research will make impact only when the creation of more
facilities is accompanied by an awakening of the research spirit.
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to explain the following:
• Difference between course based learning and research
• Mindset, skills and methodology required for research
• What research is and what it is not
• Centrality of questioning, originality and truthfulness in research
• How to think and communicate well
• How to manage stress, time, inter-personal relations (with guide, fellow students and
staff) and resource sharing
• Body of literature dealing with the research process, as distinct from discipline specific
data, concept and theories

Initiated “Introduction to Research” as a compulsory course for all
research scholars in IITM, and has conducted over 30 workshops on
this topic in IITs, RRI, NITs, IIITs and other institutions. Leading
faculty for the first nationwide ISTE mega-workshop for 10,000
teachers on this topic.
