To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Madeline Perrine and I am writing to express my interest in a position in your

pediatric hematology and oncology unit. I am currently a student at the University of Arizona
and will be graduating with my Bachelors of Nursing in December of 2019. I am looking for a
position as a new graduate registered nurse.

I have had the opportunity to do a clinical rotation in the pediatric unit at Banner University
Medical Center as well as their pediatric hematology/oncology unit. This experience gave me
great insight into what it is like to work on an oncology unit and what type of care is required
from the nurses. I knew as the rotation went on that I would be a good fit on the unit. I love
getting to work with children of all ages and their families. I think that as pediatric nurses it is
important to know that our role influences the entire family. I believe that my desire to create a
positive and encouraging work environment will lend itself well to working on a high acuity unit.

I have also completed a five week preceptorship in the pediatric intensive care unit at Tucson
Medical Center. Over this period I learned how to manage care for multiple ICU patients and
how to prioritize care. I also had the chance to learn inter-professional teamwork. In an acute
care setting it is important to be able to communicate well with the doctors, pharmacists, and
respiratory therapists. Patient and family care is affected by the entire healthcare team, which
means that we need to know how to work well with each other. After my preceptorship, I feel
confident in my clinical skills as well as my patient care skills. I have also had positive feedback
from families as well as nurses that I worked with. I am eager to learn and willing to work hard
to become the best nurse I can be.

Pediatric oncology has been a passion of mine for many years now and I am excited to begin
pursuing my career in it. It is a population that I feel deeply connected to and I hope to have a
positive influence on many patients in the future. I appreciate you taking the time to consider my
application and hope that we can talk more about the future. If you would like to contact me, you
can call me at 480-221-0961 or email me at mjperrine@email.arizona.edu. I look forward to
hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Madeline Perrine
