Bloods Point

Have you ever heard of the haunted place in Kingston where many people have claimed

to see things? Well, Bloods Point is a haunted road that runs between Fairdale and Wheeler Road

that was founded in 1836. It is an old legend that has existed since the mid nineteenth century.

The first legend started with Beulah The Witch.

In the article called A Hauring Trip Along Blood’s Point it says that “Blood’s Point was

named after a prominent local family, the Bloods. Arthur Blood was the first white settler in

Flora Township; a pleasant area that derived its name from the abundance of flower-covered

fields” (Kleen). The first legend involves a witch called “Beulah” who lived in the same area. In

the book Ghost Whispers: Tales from Haunted Midway i t states, “Arthur Blood’s children once

encountered her under the railroad bridge and were enthralled by her ability to produce fire from

her fingertips” (Gorman 154). Afterwards, the locals grew suspicious of Arthur Blood’s family
and drove them to suicide. When traveling on the road toward the cemetery, there is a bridge just

above the train tracks. The second legend is about a school bus filled with children that flew off

the bridge, killing all the passengers. Today, if a car is put in neutral on this spot, it will be

mysteriously pushed across or off the bridge. The last legend involves the witch Beulah, who

hung her children and then herself from the top of Bloods Point Bridge. People called her a witch

because once she moved to the area people noticed their crops would burn and their cattle died,

so they thought she was a witch. The article A Hauring Trip Along Blood’s Point also added that

“She has been seen walking late at night in search of something” (Kleen). There is a rumor that if

you lay your eyes on her, you will feel the overpowering urge to run, but you find yourself

incapable of doing it. After all these happenings, you can expect hauntings to go on. Hellhounds

are known to be guarding the cemetery, dogs coming out of nowhere and attacking visitors, then

disappear. Also ghosts and spirits have been seen walking on the side of the road.

As you drive into Bloodspoint, you must cross the bridge that the children had died on to

get to the other bridge that the “witch” and her children had died on. When I drove across the

bridge, I stopped in the middle. I put the car in neutral to test the theory if my car would

mysteriously move. There was no movement happening but as I looked around, the bridge had

rails along the sides and a creek underneath. The bridge that the “witch” had committed suicide

on could only fit one car underneath. It was very quiet and calm but I didn’t see anything

supernatural, so I decided to drive to the other bridge.

The bridge was very narrow with trees shadowing over the train tracks and rocks all

along the sides leading up to the tracks. The bridge was hidden behind the endless corn fields. As

I walked on the tracks, it was all darkness except this one green light glistening in the distance.
The only noise you could hear was the movement of the rocks as I stepped further towards the

light. When I walked back to the part of bridge where the “witch” and her children had

committed suicide I looked down and the drop was about 15 feet. I had no supernatural

encounters as I was exploring the tracks, I was just left curious about the green light.

After the bridge I had went down the road to one of Bloods Point’s cemeteries. The main

cemetery was locked up, but this cemetery had an open gate. I had to turn on my phone flashlight

because it was so dark outside. As I opened the gate, it was not what I expected. I went inside the

cemetery and saw a few trees but no tombstones. I became very curious to find these

gravestones. As I looked around I saw a field of grass and trees, then a hill after. I kept on

walking and came upon barbed wire and a sign. The sign read “No Trespassing”. I began to

wonder if that is where the tombstones were located. It was blocked by barbed wire with

overgrown grass and trees hanging over. When I was taking a closer look at the surroundings by

the sign, I heard barking. My adrenaline went to 10 and I ran towards the fence and hopped over.

As I hopped over the fence my foot got caught on the top and I fell on the ground. My body was

in fight or flight mode and I sprinted to the car and jumped in. The barking sound made me think

that they were the hellhounds guarding the cemetary like many people had reported when going

there. I had sensed more supernatural happenings at the graveyard rather than the bridges.

After doing research and exploring this place, I was very pleased. I enjoyed doing the

research and finding out more about the place itself. When I did the research it made me have a

sense of fear when going to Bloods Point. I never knew any of the history or legends before I

started my research. I highly suggest to take a trip this October before Halloween as a way to

bring spirit to the holiday. It will not only put you in the Halloween mood, but it will also make
for a great memory and adventure. This adventure made for a great story and a night out with my

friends.
