 The development of human rights law in Ontario


 Key features and requirements of Ontario’s Human Rights Code
 Prohibited grounds of discrimination under the Code
 Exceptions under the Code where discrimination is allowed
 Code requirements in relation to recruitment, selection and hiring
 Human rights issues associated with both pre-employment and on-the-job drug
and alcohol testing
 What constitutes discrimination under the Code
 The duty to accommodate
 Undue hardship and forms of accommodation
 Employer’s obligations with respect to workplace harassment, including sexual
harassment
 Remedies under the Code
 Administration and enforcement of the Code
 The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 as it relates to human
rights
