11 – Wisdom Creative Non-fic

Reaction Paper

Non-fictional stories can be just as creative as fictional ones. Making a factual story
interesting to the general reader depends on the skill and the research ability of the author/s.
Presenting facts in such a way that a reader with no background on the subject can enjoy it just
as much as any other reader. A great part of non-fictional writing is authored by scientists who
present facts with a heap of jargon and measurements that makes it hard for non-scientists to
read and understand. I myself have experienced this many times especially in my Philippine
Politics class. An excellent piece of non-fic doesn’t tell the reader what to feel about the
displayed text, it just lays it in its entirety for the reader to see

A good non-fic piece of literature can tell a story that sways while remaining factually
correct. This is very important to remember especially when our thesis defense comes up.
Reading the article, I see that I do not always need to use the precise measurements unless
necessary. To make the readers interested and understand the text, one must use wordplay to
dramatize the text. Wordplay will have a greater impact than plain numbers. Not only will it
catch the eye better but it’ll have a better ring to it.

Imagery, imagery can do wonders for almost any text. It brings out an image that we
mentally visualize, adding a depth to the text being read. It also at times make the us reminisce
on a memory that is related to the image. It brings life, color, depth, and more to the text it’s in.
It appeals to the subconscious action of our minds filling in details when the picture is not yet
whole.
