Personal Narrative Essay

Flashback to before 9th grade, we were at the airport to meet our new exchange student

from Sweden, his name was Simon. I had a good idea of what I think he looked like. I have only

seen him once during a facetime. So, we are at the airport and were looking for him with the

signs my brother and I made. My mom sees him and starts going crazy. Once Simon sees us he

starts running toward us. I still remember the first thing he did, he gave everyone a hug, even

though he was a stranger; I could already feel a brotherly connection. Next thing you know,

memories are jumping in like thieves in an alleyway.

Simon was not too tall he was about my height, but the thing is he looked almost the

same as us. It was not long until we were brothers. Once high school started we had to ride with

my sister to get to school, she is a very bad driver. Simon and us we were both scared, but we

were having fun almost as if riding with my sister was like a rollercoaster. Up, down, left, right.

School was pretty good with simon he sat with my friends at lunch. But after he got his off

campus pass he was gone like a leaf in the wind. Towards the end of the first semester Simon

was too good at making friends, next thing you know everybody knows his name and calling it

name in the halls. Simon was also very smart he will image straight A’s every semester, he is a

really smart guy. Throughout the year he kept on teaching me a lot of lessons about life and

anything in general, just lessons. So when he was leaving, my family had to make a speech about

just Simon being around, So I stood up and remembered one time when Simon went up into his

room and there was this big cockroach he got here he got really scared so he FaceTime to me to

kill the cockroach, when I saw it I too was honestly kind of scared, it was huge. So I ended up

having to call my dad because me and Simon were both scared of it and we don’t like bugs.

Telling this story reminded me of all the other times me and Simon were together and he taught

me a lot of lessons, so this is how I learned a major lesson in life.
