In doing this assignment I was very nervous because even though I’ve done a similar project in
my RWS 1301 class last semester, this assignment had different key requirements and grading
rubric and since I worked in a group and this was the first time working on my own I
encountered a few difficulties but none of which I couldn’t overcome eventually. The most
difficult part of this assignment was figuring out what to incorporate into my video in order to
achieve the full essence and purpose of the assignment in a well fulfilling manager. This problem
was addressed by simply reviewing the guidelines of the assignment, having a discussion with
my professor and some of my peers, going over the grading rubric and finally by revising what
i’ve learnt about rhetoric and aristotle persuasive techniques. In doing this video i did incorporate
original footage because i feel in doing a project like this and especially when covering a topic
like mine it is important to give people the opportunity to voice their opinions and maybe even
allow others to teach and learn from each other as well as yourself. In my inquiry proposal I
stated that in a controversial topic like this, my job is to dig deep and find out what people think
and use their views to help narrow and answer some of my questions because if we know which
side of the argument people are taking then is is easy to appeal to them as well as to prepare for
the rebuttal, counter arguments and questions that may arise. In completing this assignment the
use of imagery, music, text, and/or narration to convey the message was quite important since it
is after a visual argument: documentary. The use of these genres was carefully arranged to help
support my claims following the ethos, logos pathos method. Each genre conveyed a different
one of aristotle’s persuasive techniques to help support and strengthen my claims, convey
important information to the audience about the topic and to convey the bottomline of the
message and foster my call to action while helping to play with my audience emotions a little bit
so as to win them over to my side of the argument. This entire film was based on my semester’s
research, everything I've learned this semester not only about my topic but also about how to use
rhetoric, genres and other very important variables to make a strong, valid argument into a
documentary presentation. The aspect of my research most emphasized was the consequences
and call to action such as where to find help and how to take a stand against my chosen issue and
the aspect of my research minimized or ignored were the causes of my chosen issue since there
are bountiful but not legitimate. At the end of crafting this visual argument I did gain some
insights about my chosen issue such as Sexual abuse stands as one of the most devastating sins
that human beings have devised, leaving deep scars and unspeakable pain. Victims of sexual
abuse have had much taken from them, sexual abuse at its heart involves an individual taking
