Universal Design for Learning (UDL): ELL students will be supported because there are options to listen and
read along with the lesson. There are multiple resources provided by BrainPop such as quizzes, eBooks, and
videos that can support students throughout the lesson. The videos can be watched as many times as needed,
the eBooks can be read as many times as needed, and the quizzes can be taken as many times as needed in
order to best support each individual child. The games can also be played as many times as a child wants to in
order to help them learn the material.
Lesson idea implementation: I will ask my students why they think it’s so important to use correct grammar
and have a few volunteers share their thoughts when called on. I will introduce the activity of creating a game
to see how well they understand aspects of grammar. Then, we will watch the video provided on grammar.
Students will then work in partners to create a grammar question and write it on an index card with the
answer written on the back. I will then collect all of the game cards that students created and divide the class
in half. Those will be the two teams.

Each team will take turns answering the questions on the card to earn points. I will keep track of the points on
board. When the game is over, we will revisit our original question of why grammar is important. I will have
students answer and see if I get any different opinions or answers.
Reflective Practice: I could extend this lesson by having students create posters to display the importance of
grammar, but I feel like this lesson would be a great introduction to explore the importance of grammar and
why we learn about it.
