The 2019 National Young Leaders’ Conference (NYLC), spearheaded by the Global Institute for
Youth Development in partnership with the Puerto Princesa City local government unit (LGU)
and Youth Development Office (YDO), is penciled to convene in Puerto Princesa City on
November 22 to 26.

NYLC, with this year’s theme “#SDGeneration: Acting towards Social Economic, and
Environmental Sustainability by 2030”, is an annual gathering of hundreds of young leader
advocates from around the Philippines. The NYLC campaign focuses on empowering the next-
generation leaders with practical skills necessary to lead initiatives geared towards the realization
of sustainable goals (SDGs).

Arjo Escalona, city local youth development officer of YDO, said that

The five-day convention is packed with trainings and workshops on SDGs categorized into four
clusters: people, prosperity, planet, and peace.

Puerto Princesa City was chosen to be this year’s host city because of its continued bid as the
model city for SDG attainment in the past decade.
