Research Learning Theories

Karina Regalado
Theory that aligns with my teaching philosophy

➔ The theory that best aligns with my teaching philosophy is cognitivism and constructivism
because they both create and analyze the learning process.
➔ I feel that these theories also work perfectly together because they focus on how people
acquire knowledge and then find feedback that can be reapplied to the contructivism.
THEORY THAT LEASTS ALIGNS WITH ME
➔ The theory that least aligns with me would be Behaviorism because the type
of behavior that is looking for can already be found with the constructivism
which focuses on the theory on how people learn.
COGNITIVISM
➔ Places focuses on memorization, mental thinking, problem-solving, knowing
➔ Focuses on processing information, how the new information is organized and
received
➔ Learning is about finding meaning
➔ Focuses on the before of the response
Constructivism
➔ Learners can can communicate with one another and share understandings,
knowledge, and experience that can later be used for new knowledge.
➔ Construct own knowledge from personal experiences.
➔ Constantly evolves
EXAMPLE OF COnstructivism
➔ Collaborative learning
➔ Getting rid of information that is not needed
➔ Relate to real life situations
➔ Have lots of hands on activities
➔ New knowledge
EXAMPLE OF COgnitivism
➔ Corrective Feedback
➔ Have learning strategies in classroom
➔ Take off information that is not important
➔ Problem Solving
➔ Focuses on before responses
Some similarities on the 3 theory’s
LEAST FAVORITE THEORY & WHY?

➔ I believe my least favorite theory would be behaviorism because I feel that

it focuses too much on the memorization strategy rather than the actual
process that needs to be tracked on to see on what should be fixed
WHICH THEORY ARE MOST EFFECTIVE FOR TEACHING AND
INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING?
➔ Cognitivism is the most effective for teaching and instructional planning
because this theory helps understand how the learning is occurring and it
can also be helpful to understand that every person learned differently.
