Dear Mrs. Corona,

This letter is in response to your job posting for the new graduate nursing position at Banner
University Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I have spent multiple shifts in the
Neonatal ICU during my clinical rotation at local Tucson hospitals. As well as, an internship at
the Women’s Center at Northwest Medical Center. During this time, I became aware of how
impactful this specialty is and my desire to be a part of the team that provides care to these
young individuals. I know that this unit at Banner UMC has a great reputation for providing safe
and quality care, and this hospital’s values make it my ideal place of work.

I am currently a fourth semester student at the University of Arizona Bachelor’s of Science in

Nursing Program. I am set to graduate in December 2019. I have a strong interest in providing
nursing care for neonates. I have experience as an intern in the NICU, as well as a float pool
nursing technician in local Tucson hospitals. I also spent five weeks at Tucson Medical Center in
their Mother-Baby Unit for my fourth semester preceptorship. Through these experiences, I
know that I am capable of caring for a variety of patients of all ages, especially neonates. Not to
mention, my experience as a student nurse has allowed for opportunities to learn about our
Tucson community. I am able apply theories, clinical judgement and critical thinking to the
professional role setting as I transition from a student nurse to a registered nurse.
