Material Selection

In this section, the materials that will be used in the fabrication of the design are

persented in a tabulated form which is displayed below. The usage along with the simple

illustrations for each material that will be used are also presented.

Squirrel Cage Motor Serves as the main power

supply of the machine.

Equal Angle Bar Functions as the frame to

support the machine for it is
firm enough to carry the
machine load.

Carbon Steel Shafts Used for the machine’s

shaftings.

Bolts and Nuts Primarily used for joining and

securing most of the parts and
components of the machine on
its frame.

Pillow Block Bearing Supports the shafts during the

machine’s operation.

Pulleys and V-belt Aids in power transmission

whose main power is supplied
by squirrel cage motor.

Cutters/Shredder Blades Used to engage and cut the raw

materials.

Cast Iron Gears Used to transmit power

between the shredder shafts
