Quote:I wonder what it was during biblical times also that made
people live longer.
It was due to the cycle of the yugas, in my opinion. The Bible declares
that
Methuselah lived for precisely 969 years and then died. From extrapolation,
we
can also determine that Methuselah lived approximately over some 5000 years
ago.
This information can be corroborated with certain Vedic literatures with
startling parallels being found as a result. For example, it is a Vedic
conviction that just over 5000 years ago, the age known as Dwapar Yuga had
come
to a close. Apparently, it is said that the average lifespan of people
during
Dwapar Yuga was approximately 1000 years! Methuselah's long lifespan
clearly (in
a comparative sense anyway, as there are MUCH longer Vedic time-scales
still)
comes VERY close to 1000 years. Also, the average height of man was said to
be
taller in the previous yugas. If one reads the Old Testament of the Bible,
one
will find information that corroborates with the Vedic notion of physically
taller humans living in the distant past with its accounts of 'giants' that
once
roamed the Earth.

Fascinating stuff, Rishi. It reminds me of the legend of the "Wandering
Jew"
There's some info on the legend on Wiki ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_wandering_jew
There's a couple of western legends of people defying death and living for
extended periods, another of them is St Germain. Although some legends have
him
dying and being reincarnated, others say he lived on and the reported
deaths
were bogus. Also, the difference with the other legends is that they say St
Germain discovered the cure for ageing and death through alchemy, rather
than a
hex or blessing.
I read one legend that St Germain first appeared on Earth some 50 000 years
ago
as the high priest of the Violet Flame Temple and preached the great
destiny of
his people. When they fell to temptation, he withdrew from the society and

Well, according to the Vedic literatures, when people in the previous yugas
aged, the rate at which they aged was less than what it is today by a
factor of
10. For example, right now in Kali Yuga, a person who is 90 years old could
be
said to be nearing his/her expected time of death (approximately 100 years,

Being embodied is a curse (in my opinion), but not living. I believe that
EVERYTHING which has life has that life eternally. The soul, never having
been
born, will never die either. Only the bodies it enters experience birth and
death. The constitutional nature of the soul is bliss, and since people
tend to
forget this whenever they experience embodiment, they are subject to
misery. So
only experiencing birth and death forever would be a curse to me, but I do
believe each and every soul will eventually break free from the cycle of
transmigration. It is only a matter of time. This is my personal conviction
anyway.

Hi Aubery
I agree totally, but the governments already know that most hallucinogenic
drugs
more than not turn people more onto pacifism and teaches them about the
wrongs
of war, and makes them more rebellious against corrupt organisations, so
they
wont be doing much studies into it anytime soon, not in open public anyway.
Its
why governments have spend millions doing their best to demonise such
things
with anti hallucinogenic propaganda.
Check these creepy government anti LSD propaganda films.

Although I don't knock down the use of some hallucinogens on occasion and
I've
smoked my fair share of mary jane in the past, I still think there is
definite
abuse and I've seen first hand how damaged some people have become from it.
Important decisions are better made with a clear head. Unfortunately, there
are
too many people out there that become habitual users and/or have addictive
personalities. It's those people that make everything harder on those that
just
want to use on occasion for enlightenment. It's only a matter of time
before the
government shuts down the legal use of Salvia thanks to the idiots posting
all
their videos on YouTube. That's one that I'd actually be willing to try.
Anyhow, I'm going to be taking up the use of an Isolation Tank. $40 an hour
and
from what I've heard, it's just like using DMT.

why I joined the FFA (Future Farmers of America" That was the good old days

Do you have any idea WHICH village in North India? And what time of the
year?
And has anyone in the village spoken to him in all these years, asked him
anything about himself?

reading the above is quite interesting, i personally dont do drugs as that
took
on the subject matter for a wee while. but in the theory of a person living
on
beyond 5000 i believe is total exaggeration , i read recently about a grave
that
belonged to a scotsman dating early 1700's the chap reached north of 200
years,
his grave is in america he was one of the earliest brits to hit the country
when
we moved west. i will locate the article i read and get it added to the
forum.

I just thought I'd bump this thread to mention that I recently remembered
that
anecdote about Ashwatthama which my grandfather told me about over a couple
of
years ago now, so I decided to ask him where that alleged sighting of
Ashwatthama occurred. He told me that, as far as he can remember, it
occurred in
Vindhyachal (which is a town in the Mirzapur District of Uttar Pradesh).
