Preliminary: Hammer/Trigger Pins & Fire Selector

1. Set your 0,0 position to be the center of the front pivot pin. This is 0.25” below the surface
of the main ‘deck’, and 7.5” from the back of the buffer tube tower.
2. Using the jig, drill in the appropriate locations. Hammer/Trigger pins require a 1/8” drill
bit, and should be reamed to 0.156” .
Hammer Pin Center: 3.604”, 0.375” Trigger Pin Center: 4.447”, 0.689”
3. Using the jig, drill in the appropriate location with a 3/8” drill bit, and then ream to 0.376”.
Safety Selector Center: 5.572”, 0.464”

4. If you are legally manufacturing a select-fire receiver, the sear-pin hole is 0.125”, drilled
through at 5.572”, 0.125” (some sources say 5.572”,0.156”). Please observe all NFA
laws.

Step 1: Drill Roughing

1. Position the lower (in the jig) with the buffer tube tower to the right.
2. Set your 0,0 coordinate to be the center of the takedown pin (the one at the front of the
receiver).
3. Spot-face, using a 3/8” end mill, at coordinates: 6.514, 0.000 .
4. Touch off the deck to get a 0” depth. Then, using the following table, drill with the
specified diameter drill bit at the specified coordinates to the specified depth.

Plunge Milling
7/16” end mill at the first coordinates below, plunging at each position
to the specified depth, before moving to the next specified X or Y coordinates. If a
Y coordinate is not specified, use the last one (i.e. no change in Y coordinate).

This will rough out the bulk of the remaining material, aka “spiderwebs.”

Please note, milling an M16 fire control group pocket is not contrary to the law – but it does open you
up to additional scrutiny.

Rough Milling Pass

7/16” end mill at the initial coordinates below, drop it to the specified
depth, and follow the path below, moving to the specified X or Y coordinates. If a
coordinate is not specified, that means you should use the prior coordinate, i.e.
do not change X, but move to Y on the same X axis).

This will do a ‘rough pass’ across the fire control group pocket.

Finishing Milling Pass
7/16” end mill at the initial coordinates below, drop it to the specified
depth, and follow the path below, moving to the specified X or Y coordinates.

This will do a ‘finishing pass’ across the fire control group pocket, and result in a
completed lower.

Y=-0.130” (towards you), drop depth to 1.250”, and mill to X=5.127”, Y=0.130” .

Please observe all NFA laws

Step 5: Trigger Hole

Using a 5/16” end mill, plunge through 4.083, 0.000 and mill to 4.451, 0.000 .

You have now completed your 80% lower.
