To Whom it May Concern,

My name is Janelle Geist and I am a mathematics teacher at Andale High School. I am writing
this letter of recommendation on behalf of Lauren Barthelme.

I first met Lauren when she was a member of the St. Mark’s volleyball team that I coached. I
remember her as a quiet, yet friendly person. She was certainly one of our team leaders. After
attending St. Mark’s, Lauren has attended Andale High School. I had Lauren in College Algebra
and am currently teaching her in two upper-level mathematics classes -- Trigonometry and
Probability and Statistics I. Lauren is an exemplary student. She has a great mind for
mathematics and pairs that with an amazing work ethic. She always finishes her assignments
almost immediately after they are assigned. She asks questions when needed and scores at the
top of the class on exams. It is evident that Lauren’s top priority is academics, but Lauren also
pursues other interests. For all of the years she has been in high school, Lauren has been a
member of the Spirit Squad, Student Council and S.A.D.D. She has also earned her C.N.A and
works part-time at an assisted living facility. Lauren always comes to class with a smile on her
face. She is easy to talk to and is mature beyond her years.

It is without reservation that I recommend Lauren for any college, scholarship, or job for which
she is applying. I am confident she will do well with her education and in life. I wish her the best
of luck.
