Writing Project #1 Reflection

1. One of my process artifacts I used was the story from Amy Tan called “Mother Tongue.”

I reflected off her own writing style so I can use the same style as I wrote. Amy and I

shared similar events that happened in our lives which was easy for me to relate back to.

With the help of this artifact I was able to explore and express ideas through writing. As I

wrote my essay, I made sure to present the story in the first person making the paper

more personal for the audience. I made sure to include ethos, logos and pathos as

rhetorical devices throughout my essay.

2. I made sure my audience knew I was credible of my own language by expressing

confidence in my writing and showing examples. I also expressed a logical background

of how my language came to be. I also made sure to express to the audience how I felt in

certain situations emotionally. As the writer, you need to make sure the audience

understands what message you are trying to send out. The audience expects to feel the

same way the writer felt in their essay.

3. The strongest part of my final draft was my story telling because I felt I did a good job

explaining what happened and expressing how I felt in that situation. The weakest part of

my essay was probably my conclusion because the I ended it with a part of my story

instead of a strong statement. I would like to include a stronger ending.
