Uma amanha bonita na praia de copacabana com Renascer para homanagear o dia da
Yemanja.
A beautiful morning on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro with Renascer samba
school on February 2, recognized in Brazil as the Day of Yemanja ("yae-mahn-JZA”). Yemanja is one of the primary orishas--or divine spirits--from the Yoruba tradition of West Africa. Yemanja is considered the mother of all orishas, having given birth to the 14 Yoruba gods and goddesses. She is often depicted as a mermaid, and is associated with the moon, water, and femininity. On this festive day, a joyous procession ventured the breaking waves of the Atlantic Ocean, where offerings of white roses and absolute devotion were made.
